discipline is key

i’m realizing that a lot of my temptation comes from lack of discipline. i messed up last night and watched porn and masturbated, but i was also on instagram from 2am-4am. like WHAT AM I THINKING. would love some tips for building a routine!

You gotta get rid of the things that bring those urges on. Put screen time blockers on after a certain time. If you can’t sleep read a book or listen to some sounds. I notice Instagram is horrible because you can accidentally come upon a trigger and boom. You kill your steak. Keep at it bud. It happens. I have friends that used to be addicted to worse things and they can tell you that relapsing is part of the process. Very rarely does someone quit their first try.

1 thing helps me to rid these urges before I sleep is dim lights and reading 10 pages from any book you are interested in, I found out I have interest in history books, and I bought 2 books and read them daily but most importantly is at least 10 pages before I sleep, it clears my mind and gives me that small kick of dopamine.

For me, I’ve been hitting the gym, meal prepping, reading my Bible in the morning and before bed, and playing guitar. I also bought a “brick” to block certain apps on my phone, and use the content filters provided through this app. However, Ive also built this routine around my girlfriend dumping me, and making a new routine for me. It’s all about self improvement and keeping yourself busy, and quitting porn is a huge step to a better self. My suggestion is finding something that you like to do, or even a few things, and also find something to better your health, and when temptation hits, remember why you’re quitting, and do your best to flee from it, don’t fight it, run from it. Do whatever you need to do, delete insta, block it, whatever, do whatever it takes because there needs to be lengths to go to quit. Hope this helps.
