It’s about who you are, not what you do.
If you focus on going on a streak, you’ll easily fall off. Why? Because you’re dealing with the symptoms(lust, masturbation, porn,…) not with the root of it(toleration to sin, pride, lack of love in your heart, loneliness,…). It is just like a tree. You can cut of the fruit, but in a month you’ll see fruit back on that tree because the plant is still rooted on the ground. Therefore it will bear fruit. Likewise with addictions. They are not the root of the problem. Something in you is the root of it. But we have the advantage of living under a gracious God, who has redeemed his creation from sin through the death and resurrection of Christ(John 3:16 - John 10:10). Let us know accept Jesus in our lives and shift our focus from trying to stop sin to living in faith for Him. He’ll show us the problems and according to His word, the solutions. So trust God today with your heart and quit trying to end this addiction on your own understanding(Proverbs 3:5-6).
I understand you man. But When I share the gospel, I’m not trying to exclude anyone from it, neither am I trying to force anybody to it. I’m just sharing the Truth and the best way to overcome addictions or things that harm us in this life. You can learn from neutral or general sources those are good, but I can assure you that there is nothing that can change you and your life as much as the Love of God will.
