Some Encouragement Before Bed

I was having a long conversation early with a close friend of mine about my pornography addiction (I highly recommend talking about it with close people who you can trust). Anyways, throughout our conversation I made an observation. I know we are struggling and sometimes asking ourselves, “why me?” Or “I wish I never got in this mess.” And I get it that it does suck having to struggle to get out of it. I struggled a lot today and ended up having to leave my house because my urges were so bad. However, I think that once we do manage to get rid of porn’s grasp on our lives, we will be unstoppable. Think about it like this, normal everyday people who have never had to struggle with addictions like this don’t experience life to the same extent as someone who had to battle an addiction that was dragging them down. Once we break free, we will be that much happier. We will radiate joy to those around us. I am thinking that God chooses people like us to deal with this because he knows we can break free of it and change the world, we just have to come to the realization. And once we are free, he uses us to make the world a better place. So next time you are having urges, remember that once you break free, nothing can stop you anymore. You will be able to direct the course of your life in any way you choose. In fact, I am confident you will reach the point where nothing will ever be able to have control over you again, because at the end of the day, porn is one of the toughest addictions to have to battle in the world. We will make it out of this, look back, and consider ourselves blessed for even having to struggle through it, because then we will have seen hell, and crawled our way out to paradise.
