As a man in his early 40’s, in my experience, the temptation isn’t as hypnotic as it is when you’re a teen. So…you have that to look forward to, but it’s still strong…just not all consuming like when you’re young. I’m sure that didn’t help one bit, but I’d thought I’d share that little nugget of hope. May The Lord be with you young grasshoppa! Be calm and realize that you’re most likely not going to be able to think your way out of the temptation, your brain isn’t even fully developed yet which happens around age 26 and gives you the full development of the neocortex…higher reasoning and analytical thinking. It’s kind of like cliff jumping for the first time…you’re never going to reason your way into believing it’s a good idea to jump off a 50 foot cliff into water, so you just have to override your thoughts with pure action. As Nike says, “Just Do It” or in our cases, “Just Don’t Do It”.
