I appreciate it dude dw im gonna make sure i wont relapse to any porn related stuff and just cut it down every time until i will stop completely, the goal is to kill the habit of watching porn because it is the only thing thats making me relapse, im a pretty strong minded person and I could avoid the temptation of jerking off but i cannot fight the urge to watch porn no matter what

You are absolutely doing everything correct and are on the path to retrain and rewire your brain. It’s just like any other addiction. There is a reason why in rehab rehabilitation centers ,if you’re combating a drug that is highly addictive, instead of doing a cold turkey, they slowly wean you off the drug. It is the same with this. You are rewiring your brain, and it depends individual to individual, some may benefit from a cold turkey while others may benefit from weaning off. The main important step that you must focus on is staying away from imagery and negative screen time. Identify your trigger points and when you feel the urge, replace it with something such as a physical activity or high brain power tasks. It is totally fine to release. I’ve recommended and still do recommend that release is OK as long as there is no imagery, but one must make sure that the release is not every day. It needs to be every other day or preferably just fight through it. Your brain will try to force you to use imagery. It will try to make you relapse into that state because it is deprived of those images, but one’s body is meant to release in someway whether that be through sexual activity or your own self. Take it slow you’ve got this. You have a great community here who is willing to support you and you can do this if you maintain routines.

could be true but going cold turkey never worked for me and honestly jerking off never was a big part of my addiction it was always the porn that is i would be watching shamelessly

Dopamine is not a drug you can wean off of. Your body consistently needs more. It’s better to go cold turkey on everything and cut it out of your life completely
