True repentance - Timothy Keller
In his Commentary on Judges chapter 6, Timothy Keller wrote this wonderfull passage: "If you keep falling in the same way over and over again, and your falls neither become less frequent nor less severe over time, then perhaps your way of dealing with them is driven more by regret than by repentance. In other words: You may simply regret the difficulties your sin has caused you, but you are not willing to identify and renounce the idol behind that sin—because you still take pleasure in the sin. The main problem here is that, left to ourselves, we often fail to recognize the true condition of our hearts. Many people who are actually making progress feel as if they're stuck. Many others, by contrast, make no progress at all but refuse to admit it. That’s why we need trustworthy Christian friends and spiritual leaders who can help us discern the difference."
