Video Journaling

Day 1

TLDR: Video journaling provides insight into how others perceive you and gives visual clarity on your emotions and goals on a day to day basis. Easier than sitting still to write, and better than venting into nothing and losing the valuable emotional information you provide when your thoughts fly free. Youtube can act as storage and can be made private, so no fear of anybody seeing it unless you want them to. Saw a post about a gentleman wanting to try vlogging and it inspired me to post it mainstream and give the benefits of adopting this habit. That habit being: Video journaling. I started journaling in November after a breakup, and it has been a GAME CHANGER in my life. For starters, if you SUCK at socializing, being able to hear yourself talk and see yourself gesture does wonders for your perception of yourself toward others. If any of you have been told you are thoughtful, funny, kind, charismatic, awkward, whatever; Recording yourself venting or speaking will allow you to see those attributes for yourself. Don't believe me? Turn on your camera and prove me wrong! Another benefit is the therapeutic aspect. If anybody has gone to therapy and been recommended journals to help guide their thoughts and progress, I HIGHLY suggest making them visual instead of written. Being able to see your emotions has been INCREDIBLY motivating and insightful. I bring myself to tears rewatching my lowest point, yet chuckling whenever my humor manages to sneak into the video. Have you ever felt alone and feel as though you have nobody that will TRULY listen to you? Why not make that person yourself? After all, isn't the most important person in our lives ourselves? Nobody knows our individual struggles better than our own minds, so why not give our minds a physical obstacle to overcome? After you vent and get through your emotions, set a day at the end of the week to watch all your previous journals. This allows you to provide insight into your thoughts and questions by journaling a REPLY to your past self. Holy guacamole Batman, I spot VISUAL PROOF OF PROGRESS! What better motivator is there than a daily reminder of where we were before and where we are now? So folks, if you want to try something new and exciting, open up that camera and get to filming. Upload to your Youtube account listing it as private or unlisted to keep space available on your phone, and become the best version of yourself possible.

Hearing my voice was the strangest part, funny enough it made me a better speaker. I could tell I was mumbling over myself at times, so I really enunciate and speak clear now. The progress is undeniable, some days I feel good and just want to log it somewhere. Seeing myself in the 3rd person validated the confidence I have in myself, and now it's unbreakable. I'd love to hear how your progress goes once you try it, highly recommend the car if you drive a lot

Wow this is pretty interesting to read, definitely something I’ve never outright heard from those self help youtubers…. I journal sometimes sporadically, and even then it really is hard to see progress in yourself. I can go back and see i wrote down something i wanted to do and have done, but i think seeing it in video would be just so much more impactful. I think i’ll try it too. I usually dont have any issue socializing or talking to strangers, but ive always hated my voice and think poorly of myself from an outside perspective. I’m confident in myself, but more in a careless way, not like i really cherish who I am for how others see me…. Thank you for this brother 🩶
