Purpose
When you are trying to overcome lust you need to have a true purpose, or reason for doing so, that keeps you going. A relationship with Jesus really makes things so much easier. However, when you first get saved do not fall for the misconception that your sin will instantly disappear and your desires will be gone. It is actually the exact opposite. You will be attacked more, you will be tempted more. Spiritual warfare is very real… when the devil sees you surrender your life to Jesus he will send demons to attack you and try to get you to fall. Always remember when you resist the devil he will flee. When you overcome temptation it only gets easier and easier. I used to look at pornography 5 times a week, maybe even more than that. Nowadays my desires for that really are fading away. It’s very difficult at first but remember that quitting porn is a marathon and takes time. You need to learn how to handle relapsing, as well as learn how to handle being on a streak. Most importantly, lean on God during these times, stay in your word daily, serve others, fast, whatever you need to do to feed your spirit. I encourage you all to delete social media or any apps on your phone giving you cheap dopamine. Lust is the tool made to distract you from your true God given purpose. I hope and pray everyone who sees this will find true freedom in Christ and will be able to walk in victory.
Stay in your spirit and be ready for things to be difficult, but rejoice through the trials you face.
