Eight days clean, I’ve been close to relapsing so many times but shifted my focus. Here’s what nobody tells you though.. Just shifting your focus when you want to relapse isn’t enough, sometimes you have to sit in discomfort and control yourself. What happens when you have done all of the good habits, stayed busy and shifted your focus, but it’s the middle of the night and you have nothing to do? That’s what will get you. If you don’t sit in that discomfort and control yourself instead of distracting yourself ALL the time (it’s still amazing to distract yourself don’t get me wrong) you’ll relapse when there is no distractions available. Three things. Replacing bad habits with good, self control, and the Lord and saviour. Let’s get it guys!
Amen. I find it attacks me in the middle of the night a lot. Eventually you just have to choose not to give in after so many times of falling victim to it
