KNOW YOUR ENEMY
The best way to quit porn is to understand porn and how the brain works. Classify every form of artificial stimulation as hardcore porn. Sound, fantasy, images, everything. Attack the enemy from all fronts. Think of it like this. Porn is like a chocolate bar. You see it in front of you. And your brain thinks “maybe one piece wont hurt, its JUST one piece (right its just a few photos of models on instagram).” Next thing you know the entire chocolate bar is gone, and youve had chocolate cake and for the next 10 days you have had 10 more chocolate bars. Now another scenario, you have gummy worms in front of you. “Well its not chocolate you say”. Right you have some and the same parts of the brain that activate when you eat chocolate get activated. Next thing you know boom, you relapsed and ate chocolate. Know your enemy. If you want to quit eating chocolate, you have to consider everything that could lead to that possibility an enemy. Attack it from all fronts. If you want to quit porn, you have to quit all forms of artificial stimulation, not just hardcore porn.
This thinking was really helpful for me I find that the times I come closest to relapse it’s all with things that I’ve categorized as “not quite porn” but as soon as I come back to my senses I realize it’s the same behavior and response that I’m reinforcing in my brain. You have to be so careful
