How to not beat yourself up after a relapse. But instead move forward with it.

Focus on what is different this time - yes you relapsed, but what have you learned throughout this process? What triggers have you identified and what are you doing about them? I find that having a structured plan of what to do after a relapse is helpful. Share it with someone you trust so that you’re not living in a cycle of secrecy and shame. Take it a day at a time and be honest with yourself. You’re already taking a big step by recognizing you can’t just live in shame but have to focus on the strength you’re gaining throughout this journey. There will be setbacks, but every failure is a chance to learn and be stronger. We believe in you, don’t give up! 🤘

Give yourself grace. Ain no one perfect but we have to aim to be better each time we relapse. It ain easy but it has to be done

From the Christian perspective, I think we all understand that Jesus has paid the ultimate price and our sins are forgiven, and when we do relapse, we’re still covered by the blood. But it still hurts. That’s because Satan uses shame and guilt after we’ve done something to beat us down. It’s going to hurt, but listening to the convicting voice of the Holy Spirit who will guide you and ignoring the loud shouts of the enemy, before and after relapsing, is so important.
