Day 1: Breaking the Pattern
I had a strong urge earlier after waking up from a post-work nap. Usually, I’d give in, procrastinate, then scramble to get things done late at night - sacrificing sleep and skipping the gym the next morning. But today, I did the opposite. I reminded myself I had things to do. I got up, picked up my laundry, went to the water refilling station, took a shower after getting home, prepped dinner, and ate while watching YouTube. Then I listened to a Huberman podcast while washing dishes, cleaning my space, doing skincare, and brushing my teeth. Before I knew it, the urge had passed. And more importantly, the day ended well. I’m in bed on time of my preferred schedule, and I feel confident I’d be able to wake up early for the gym tomorrow. The lesson? Don’t negotiate with urges. Move. Take action. Even simple things like chores can shift your state. Momentum is your ally. Use it.
