Thought on Day 3

Currently on Day 3. I have fought and struggle against this for a long time (12+ years). Felt hopeless at time. However, I currently feel that I’m on the verge of success. Not because this streak will last forever, that I don’t know. Rather because I feel like I’m developing as a human. As a person. Part of growth is shedding the bad. As such, this habit that has been hindering my growth, will necessary leave as a result of that. Read this quote this morning from Marcus Aurelius and wanted to share it here. I feel it describes the ultimate goal of our journey which is to integrate our urges into our being. « The mind is the ruler of the soul. It should remain unstirred by agitations of the flesh—gentle and violent ones alike. Not mingling with them, but fencing itself off and keeping those feelings in their place. When they make their way into your thoughts, through the sympathetic link between mind and body, don’t try to resist the sensation. The sensation is natural. But don’t let the mind start in with judgments, calling it “good” or “bad.” »
