I hate everything and everyone around me for some reason. Like I feel like I could be way better and just want to be better and be great. I don’t know but this makes me hate myself for not being at a higher level in life for me. But I just want to also say thank God for this mindset. Some might say it’s a bad one but I think I was born to be great and the best.
Marcus Aurelius’ way of approaching this feeling was to “be strict with yourself and tolerant of others”. I feel like this is a good way to practice the virtue of courage (improving yourself relentlessly and with a high standard) but also temperance and wisdom (being kind to those around you and understanding the different life paths of people). It’s good that you have high standards for yourself, but not letting it impact your view of others is a valuable exercise.
