Battle Buddies: Day 18

Day 18

So today I went to a church event where we sing hymns inside of our capitol building. There was a gal that I kept making eye contact with. What I mean by kept…. is more than 3 times. Normally I would go up to such a gal and introduce myself, however I have also taken this time (90 days) and vowed to keep it void of female distractions. Praise the Lord for giving me strength and having people there that would hold me accountable. I am in complete awe because my normal self would’ve just taken over in this instance but with God He made it very clear what was right and wrong in this case. I kept feeling the urge to flee once the event was over. Not in cowardice but out of wanting to stay true to that vow and evade any potential stumbling blocks. All glory to God for coming through every day! Brothers in Christ, Michael & Jan: Isn’t our Father so good? He picked us up out of the muck and filth, cleansed us off, nurtured us, made a sacrifice for us, and treats us as His children. He is a just God whom only wants our genuine hearts to be set on Him. He is all sufficient, not needing anything. Sovereign over all things, and He chose to have a relationship with us. Isn’t that wonderful!? I pray you two have had a blessed day and that the Lord pours out His strength into your hearts!

Very well said, Cameron! It’s also comforting to know that we are not alone and that we have similar experiences. A common goal, a common bond, and a true connection! God’s wisdom will guide us, all we need is ask. The thought of a wife is pleasing, but the thought of picking the wrong one is terrifying. The Bible says it would be better to live in a desert by yourself than have a vexing woman. Don’t settle for anything less than God’s best and I’m confident He will bless you with a wonderful woman when the timing is right.

I am very blessed that I have God in my life. Once I opened my heart to him my life has improved a 100 fold. It's good to have the 90 days of no relationships. It gives you time to reflect on what kind of man you are and what you want to be as a potential partner. I have the same goal. I won't engage with anyone till the 90-day mark. It may seem like a long time, but we can achieve that goal. I believe in you, Robert. I can't wait for day 20!

even thought im almost 4 days in, I definitely do resonate with what you opened up about. I see cute girls all the time, and i do make eye contact a lot of, if not 100% of the time. I’m learning to not play with my emotions and not fall into lust and I have definitely gotten better with that. It’s all about protecting both your heart and her heart. God hand-picked the one for us, so why try and force our way to talk to the cute girl that you lock eyes with at a church event, or in my case a coffee shop? It’s all about self-control and patience, and when the Lord works inside of you and me, he is preparing us for the woman that we will love like how we love Him.
