Does masturbation without porn count as a relapse?

From someone who has seriously thought about quitting every day for a few years now, I have some advice on this. This is a loophole contrived by the addiction you’re starving out. You will only strengthen the neural pathways that cause you to fall into pornography. Furthermore, consider what it is you think about when you do masturbate and ask yourself if it’s glorifying. Secularly, one of the major benefits of quitting is retaining your semen, boosting your testosterone which is at the center of every healthy metric you track yourself by (sleep, energy, mood, confidence, etc). If you ever fast religiously, you will find there is a point in the day where all you can think about is your next meal and how “maybe I’ve fasted long enough and it’s time to end it” when, that morning, you committed to fasting until the following day. You wrestle with the urge to eat, which should be more powerful than the urge to masturbate because eating is a necessity of life. When I fast (not all too regularly, admittedly) and I have a pang of hunger or the temptation to eat, I instead translate it as a call to pray and spend time with God. I pray the rosary and ask for prayers, I read the Bible, I open up a book I’ve neglected for too long, I practice a skill. There is so much more fulfillment in these things and they ultimately benefit you and bless you in the long run. You have a whole heavenly host cheering you on in the race. You’re far from alone when surrounded by eternity and the desire to love and know God. A day of fasting (self denial) will put into perspective what it looks like and how gratifying it feels to say no to the things which you don’t want to be committed to. Keep working on it, buddy. We’re all rooting for you and praying for your success and so is an eternity worth of people that you are connected to through Christ our Lord.
