Orthodox Repentance
My priest did a Bible study with us yesterday. We spoke about the sacrament of confession and how repentance is tied into that. To summarize. He broke true repentance down into three steps: 1. Reflection - acknowledging that this sin of ours is an issue. If you are on this app, you have already completed this step 2. Confession - The outward verbal expression that this is an issue. For some of us this is the hardest part of repentance. I implore you all to confess this sin to your father of confession. However saying it out loud to God and asking the saints for help is enough. 3. Reorientation - Actually walking in the newness of life and actively turning away from the sin. This hardest part, because this requires action. Thankfully, we on this app have already started reorientation. But this is the biggest part. We must reorient our lives away from this sin and towards Christ. Take every extreme step necessary to kill this sin. Read Psalm 50 everyday and ask the Saints for help. If we are to partake in Gods energies and participate with him, this sin cannot go on. Subjugate your flesh by taking some ascetical practices. Sleep on the floor, do a certain amount of prostrations a day, fast on bread and water only on the fast days. KILL YOUR FLESH AND MAKE IT SUBMIT!!! REORIENT MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS! May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all forever, Amen.
Amen brother. I don’t see that much Christian oriented posts on this app and this makes my day even more brighter. All hail The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.
