Day 1 Tips
Today is day one of my journey to no fap and rid myself of porn addiction. I’ve struggled with this disease since I was introduced to adult content at a young age 9-10. I’m 25, 100 lbs overweight, single, never been in a long term committed relationship. This year is the year of change for me. I got back into church, moved in with a roommate and have been hitting the gym since Jan 1, 2025. Down 13 lbs of fat so far and shooting for 200lbs weight by my bday on Oct 11th this year. I started this morning, 12 1/2 hours in and relapsed! So upset with myself but I’m committed to breaking the cycle. Some tips I’ve learned in the last 12 hours. Hopes this helps some of y’all not fall into the trap of relapsing! • Restrict settings in phone settings to limit adult content. This app has a content restrictor you can turn on before changing phone settings. But it will not block out everything. • Make a list of trigger words and enter in every single item that comes to mind. Use this as an exercise to get every disgusting thought out of your mind one last time before you start this journey. What you search when you do the deed, write it down! You want to cut yourself off completely!! • Remove technology from the bedroom. If you use your phone for an alarm, get a traditional clock. (My phone goes in the bathroom now when I sleep, stays in the bedroom when I’m in the bathroom/shower) • Set up restrictions on social media, unfollow thirst trap accounts, restrict triggering content on ‘for you’ page. • Follow positive social influencers, motivation pages, fitness pages • Get a support partner. Confide in a buddy, mentor, pastor to hold you accountable in your purity. I have a few buddies I told I’m trying to quit porn, didn’t really share specifics but asked them to ask me periodically “how are you doing with your purity.” Just a simple text or phone call to keep me locked in. Anyways, hope this helps! I’m so ready to break these chains! I would appreciate any tips you guys have and encourage. Please share.
Inspiring stuff, brother. Get after it, let’s goooo!
