Go figure, my wife and I are having sex now…

Day 19

Almost 3 weeks in - I’ve masturbated here and there every few days if it’s a day I can’t see my wife or she says I should because she’s not in the mood, but I’ve been good on the porn. One day I went on the hub but somehow quit before I pressed play on anything, hit the panic button, and did some breathing exercises. My therapist and I have discussed that in my (keyword MY - everyone is different!!!!!) personal journey, as long as masturbating doesn’t start happening 4-5 times per week and my wife and I are sexually active (and holy shit we’ve been like rabbits the past three weeks after she found out I’m using this app), we agreed I’m not in an unhealthy state. I can’t believe how much better I’m feeling about myself and feeling physically in only three weeks. WOW!

Didn’t stop my porn addiction obviously since I’m here at 33 years old but it was a critical first step.

And a REAL big deal - Until right before I turned 22, I was completely insatiable - I frequently masturbated 3-5 times a day sometimes 10-11 times since I was 12. I flirted with anything that stood on two legs and had a vagina and felt doomed to cheat. There were times I edged for as long as 11 hours straight without even taking breaks for food, water, or the bathroom, and my dick would be purple and swollen for days. I begged people for help all through high school but somehow people thought I wasn’t behaving abnormally. Back to right before my 22nd birthday, I went to a psychiatrist (a medical doctor/physician, not a nurse or nurse practitioner) for the first time. I don’t want to create any hypochondria here so I won’t disclose my diagnosis here, but it’s absolutely insane - Turns out I have a serious disability and he started me on medication that changed my life LITERALLY OVERNIGHT. I could suddenly go a few days at a time without orgasms and stopped cheating without any change in effort or mindset.

I aim for in-person every time but sometimes we do virtual sessions. He’s a licensed psychologist with a lot of experience in addiction and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). There have been times where he’s told me he thinks masturbating altogether is hurting my mental health and I need to quit for a while, and there’s times he’s said he’s not as worried about it, but porn has been a constant no-no and until this app (I actually use more than one the other is Brainbuddy) I’ve been good for a few weeks to a month but constantly thinking of relapsing because I didn’t have a support group (and believe me I looked for one).
