Fighting lust VS fleeing lust
When it comes to indulging in lust (pornography, sex, masturbation, ect) whatever it may be. There is a HUGE difference in fighting lust and fleeing lust. When we try and fight lust we can usually fight it for a good while before we slip and let it win. When we flee from lust (sexual immorality) we literally run from it. Example: I’m at the gym and a woman is half naked, squatting right in front of me. There are 2 enemy’s coming against me, my flesh being one, and the devil second. They are both telling me to look and maybe even interact with her in a lustful, flirty manner. I can be aware of those things and try and fight it or I can stop what I am doing and go do something else (flee from it). When we fight lust we will lose unfortunately but fortunately when we flee from it (run from it literally) we can get away from it and discard the thought and action that could of resulted in us indulging in it. Another example: I’m scrolling on social media and I seen a woman in a bikini, my flesh is loving it and the enemy tells me I should masturbate, instead of me fighting those thoughts and urges, I get off social media and go do something that doesn’t involve sexual immorality and after a minute the thought and urges fade away. I hope this message helps you brothers. This message was inspired by 1 Corinthians 6:18 “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.”
