Focus on your progress, not only streaks.
Too often I see people posting here saying things like I feel like a failure or worthless due to a relapse. You aren’t, you’re human and you are fighting an addiction. Your very presence here, that you are trying to better yourself, to overcome this addiction is proof positive that neither of those statements are true. The best advice I could offer is not to fixate on streaks and let them get you down. You’re on a journey of self improvement and your progress will not be linear. There will be bumps. Pick yourself up when you falter, and push forward. I don’t know how long you’ve been at this, but celebrate the wins and the progress you’re making as a whole, not just streaks. I faltered at 21 days and masturbated 2 days in a row, once with porn and once without, I got back at it and I’m 8 days clean again. I could fixate on the slip (they happen) or I could be kind to myself and remember that 28 out of the last 30 days I’ve been clean and how far I’ve come. And being mindful of this progress motivates and gives me the confidence I can go further and further. I hope this is helpful.
Awesome post! That's right, progress not perfection!!
