After over 6 years of watching porn almost every day I decided I want to quit for good. I tried a few times but would always give up. What advice would you give for me to fight through this time and which day did you struggle the most?
For me it seem to be the 2nd or 3rd days. As I’ve lengthened out streaks now and in the past my days on the weekends or days when I have a lot of free time are a struggle. In my situation I figured out what situation or things caused my to go for it. If it was social media I took a couple days off, deleting the apps for that period. In my experience being tired has caused me to have less control. So I go to bed or take a nap instead pushing forward which has removed at least for me many situations where I would have relapsed recently. The strength is there in all of us to do it. Just understand those situations and remove yourself from your triggers when they present themselves. A study I read said that it only takes 22 minutes to alter our thought pattern. So if you are in that situation and you can go do something else for a half hour that should be enough to change your thoughts. Now this may be a practice that has to be done a few times in a day but it does work. Good luck. I’ll pray that this helps you
